In the last post I talked about literally covering up your tattoo for specific occasions when you do not want to remove a tattoo altogether. But, ‘tattoo cover-up’ is also a term tattoo artists use to describe a technique where they cover-up your old tattoo with a new one.
What has that got to do with tattoo removal you may well ask. Well, for a lot of people with tattoos it is not always an issue of getting rid of their tattoo altogether. You may be thinking of wanting to remove your tattoo because the image is now faded or because you no longer like the image. In this case, when it is not tattoos in general but your tattoo specifically you do not like, ‘tattoo cover-up’ is a viable alternative to total removal.
Many tattoo artists are now becoming very adept at performing cover-ups, and will help you by providing you with another image that you are happy with and can live with. usually the price is just the price of a tattoo. After all, in principle all that is being done is a new tattoo is being placed over an old one.
Take care, although that is the principle – it is still a skilled exercise. Be sure you find an artist who is experienced in tattoo cover-up techniques. As to see proof of their previous cover-ups. It is very difficult, if not impossible to cover-up a tattoo again.
